Our Bilingual Text Procedure
We make every effort to provide, on our web site, bilingual versions of text created in-house. Research submissions that are received and approved for the web site are posted in the language of their author (English or French). Historical texts, such as excerpts, minutes or diaries, are provided in the language of their author (English or French); or, in both languages if a professional translation is found to be available to us.
This is our Documents page. Here are "best bet" documents for your research into the Vankleek Hill region, such as cemetery listings. You will also discover here, from time to time, historical documents that can give you a broader understanding of Canada's early beginnings.
The Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has made available transcripts of Prescott County Cemeteries, and the Funeral Registers of D.A. McRae and Son from 1890-1966. We thank the Ottawa Branch for this service.

History of the Counties Argenteuil, Que. and Prescott, Ont. from the earliest settlement to the present
by Cyrus Thomas, 1896 (Lovell, Montreal)
This is the rich historical resource for our Lower Ottawa Valley region. Cyrus Thomas was a teacher living in Carillon, Quebec when he completed this book. Anecdotal reports suggest that locals who wished to have a cameo of their family history in the book paid Thomas five dollars, a meaningful sum. There were also advance sales of the book (subscriptions) to help ensure publication.
